Last Friday we got the news that my mother in law had had a massive stroke and was not expected to recover. She is 88 and ready to go home to God, although my father in law who is 91 would be lost without her.
Over the weekend amazingly she regained some consciousness and responded a little to family members. By Wednesday the message was that she was being kept comfortable but wouldn't last longer than a week.
I like to know what's happening, plan my life and be in control. I find myself saying, "I'll do XYZ as long as Mother B hasn't died and....."
It's made me realise how hard it is to wait and how difficult I find it to trust the unknown future to someone else. Of course no one ever knows what will happen which is maybe why my Grandmother used to plan and then say DV ( which is short for deo volente - God willing.)
So back to living one day at a time, enjoying the moment and going on in trust......
